Brazil achieved an unprecedented milestone this month, surpassing 8 million visitor arrivals for the year.
The figure represents an increase of more than 40 percent over the previous year. Embratur, Brazil’s national tourism promotion agency, expects the country to finish the year with more than 9 million international arrivals.
The record number of arrivals is a driver of social and economic development, said Marcelo Frexio, president of Embratur. The “generation of jobs and income” is the most important aspect of this celebration, he said.
International tourism currently represents 8 percent of Brazil’s GDP. In the first half of 2025, the sector generated more than 114,000 formal jobs. “Brazil is beginning to reap the benefits of tourism,” said Celso Sabino, tourism minister.
From January to October 2025, visitors from other countries contributed $6.617 billion to Brazilian destinations, according to the Central Bank. The figure represents a 10.19 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, when the total reached $6 billion.
