Exploring the far reaches of Japan just got a lot easier, and more affordable, thanks to All Nippon Airways.

The Japanese carrier has launched a new program offering international travelers flying to Tokyo from Europe free domestic flights to more than 40 destinations throughout Japan.

Travelers who fly with ANA from Europe to one of its two airports in Tokyo—Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND)—can add a connecting flight to another destination in Japan for free. As part of the deal, passengers can add a 24-hour stopover in Tokyo before heading on to their next destination in Japan. Among the eligible domestic flights are routes to popular regions like Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Okinawa.

To score the deal, travelers just need to book their international flight to Tokyo and domestic flight within Japan together on one itinerary via ANA’s site. The offer only applies to economy fares, so be sure to select that cabin class when booking.

Passengers should be aware that in order to get the free domestic airfare, they won’t be able to stay in Tokyo for more than 24 hours. Also, the domestic airfare is free, but passengers might still be responsible for paying other taxes and fees on the ticket. As of now, the deal doesn’t have an end date.

Travelers also have added flexibility because the free domestic flights don’t have to arrive and depart from the same airport. That means travelers could fly an itinerary like Tokyo to Fukuoka, take a train or other ground transport to Hiroshima, and fly back to Tokyo from Hiroshima to catch their international flight back to Europe.

Although the deal might be a bit trickier for U.S. travelers to take advantage of because it requires Europe as a point of origin, it’s possible for fliers who’d prefer to break up a long flight by stopping in Europe first. ANA flies nonstop between Tokyo to eight airports in Europe, including major hubs like Paris, Vienna, and Frankfurt.

This deal isn’t the first of its kind to offer free domestic flights within Japan. In fact, Japan Airlines introduced a similar deal in fall 2024 that allowed international travelers from almost any country to add a free domestic flight to their itinerary when flying in economy class.

The concept is a popular one in Japan, as it helps with overtourism in Tokyo. Amid record-breaking tourist numbers to Japan, with more than 28.5 million tourists visiting in the first half of 2025, the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) says that it “is working to encourage visitors to Japan to explore beyond the major cities and highlight lesser-known regions and their unique offerings.”
