The Minister of Health, Sports, and Tourism for Anguilla, the Honourable Cardigan Connor, has appointed Jameel Rochester as the Director of Tourism for the Anguilla Tourist Board (ATB).
An Anguillian himself, Rochester was most recently Assistant Rooms Division Manager at Wymara Resort and Villas in Turks and Caicos; before this, he worked as General Secretary of the Antigua Football Association. He also has private sector leadership experience in Anguilla, including at Zemi Beach House, LXR Hotels & Resorts, Four Seasons Resorts and Residences Anguilla and Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel, Anguilla.
He’s also previously held several positions at the Anguilla Tourist Board, including Manager, Destination Experience.
“Jameel’s academic achievements, combined with his extensive professional experience, have equipped him with the skills and insight necessary to lead complex operations, ensure sound financial management, and drive strategic success in Anguilla’s tourism industry,” said the Minister. “This well-earned accomplishment is a true reflection of Jameel’s hard work, his commitment to Anguilla, and we are pleased that he resigned his position in the Turks & Caicos to return home to lead the Anguilla Tourist Board.”
The island of Anguilla reported a nearly 25 percent increase in visitors last year, welcoming just under 24,000 travelers to its shores. Rochester will no doubt work towards growing the island's visibility and attractiveness for more travelers.
