Tripadvisor Launches New 'Cash-Back' Travel Rewards Program

Tripadvisor is now offering travelers the opportunity to earn cash back on eligible bookings that are made through the travel guidance platform’s app.

The Massachusetts-based company announced the new loyalty program, titled Tripadvisor Rewards, this week. The program is a free, app-first program that will provide travelers 5 percent in ‘Trip Cash’ for eligible bookings. The Trip Cash can be redeemed dollar-for-dollar with no blackout dates.

Cash back rewards will be available to more than just those who book trips on the app. Globetrotters who take the time to post reviews on TripAdvisor will also earn rewards, as will “planners and researchers who bring travel to life.” 

Some of the new program's key highlights include: 

• 5 percent Trip Cash back: On eligible hotel and experience bookings made in the Tripadvisor app
• Trip Cash = real cash: 1 Trip Cash = $1 off a future hotel or experience booking in-app
• Earn more, just by engaging: Users will be rewarded with bonus Trip Cash for planning, contributing, and reviewing
• Automatic enrollment: Every Tripadvisor member is automatically in—just download or open the app to start earning, no tiers, no blackout dates, no expiration on earnings
  
  

The company said in a statement that the rewards program launch is part of a "broader strategic transformation focused on shifting the brand from a transactional, search-based tool to a high frequency, engagement-led travel platform." 

"Tripadvisor Rewards is one of several strategic moves we're making to build more direct, habitual relationships with travelers," said Kristen Dalton, TripAdvisor's president.
