A new report from Marriott Bonvoy research revealed that an increasing number of travelers are using artificial intelligence technology for their travel planning.

But should consumers really be using AI for trips?

The answer is a bit complicated.

On one hand, yes, using AI for travel planning has its perks.

However, using it and trusting it are two entirely different things.

AI won’t be there for you if something goes wrong during your trip.

But a travel advisor will.

AI can give you some insights into where to stay and what to see and do in a new destination.

But it doesn’t have a relationship with the hotel manager to inform them that you’re VIP so and so who likes things a certain way upon arrival and in the room.

If using AI for travel planning tips, you also should do your due diligence and fact check the information.

Do you have time for that? Do you really want to do that? Because AI could tell you about a business that isn’t even open anymore.

One might argue that the OTAs integration of AI would be the way to go, so you can plan all in one and book.

However, the counter I would offer is once again, what happens if something goes wrong on your trip? You don’t want to be dealing with that or being on hold with an airline. A great travel advisor will do that for you, ensuring you’re in good hands throughout your journey.

You can poke around with some AI travel planning, but your best bet is to use a trusted travel advisor when it comes to all your vacation needs.
