Guests sailing with Quark Expeditions during the 2023-24 Antarctic and 2024 Arctic seasons raised $248,000 for the company’s polar partners during onboard auctions.
The company also made in-kind donations totaling $340,000 to support research and polar conservation efforts.
Quark’s polar partners include: the Blue Marine Foundation, Centro ICEA, Ilisaqsivik, the Mouse Free Marion Project, the Proctor Foundation, Seabird Watch & Penguin Watch, the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust and the South Georgia Heritage Trust.
During onboard auctions, guests have the opportunity to bid on exclusive items, like personalized voyage maps and ship flags, as well as experiences like making the morning wake-up announcement.
Several of Quark’s partners will be joining upcoming sailings this season. Penguin Watch will join World Explorer departures from December 5 to January 6, while Centro ICEA will be aboard Ultramarine’s “Essential Patagonia” trip on March 13.
