Hyatt Hotels Corporation has completed its acquisition of Playa Hotels & Resorts N.V. The transaction brings 15 premier beachfront properties across Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica into Hyatt's growing portfolio.

The acquisition adds several marquee destinations to Hyatt's all-inclusive collection, including Secrets La Romana and Dreams La Romana in the Dominican Republic, Dreams Rose Hall in Jamaica's Montego Bay and Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen and Sunscape Cancun in Mexico. Eight of the acquired properties were already operating as Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara resorts under management agreements.

"As we welcome Playa into the Hyatt family, we are strengthening our leadership in the all-inclusive space through a combination of new locations, capabilities, and talent," said Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt's President and CEO. The acquisition leverages Playa's operational expertise while integrating with Hyatt's global scale and loyalty program infrastructure.

This deal represents the latest achievement in Hyatt's expansion into the all-inclusive space. The company's journey began with its 2013 partnership with Playa to launch the Hyatt Ziva and Zilara brands, accelerated with the 2021 acquisition of Apple Leisure Group and continued with a 2024 joint venture with Grupo Piñero for Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts.

Javier Águila, President of Hyatt's Inclusive Collection, emphasized the strategic fit between the companies, noting their "deep cultural alignment and shared commitment to excellence." The acquisition combines Hyatt's World of Hyatt loyalty program and distribution platform with Playa's commercial capabilities.

For Playa's departing leadership, the transaction represents a natural evolution of their longstanding relationship with Hyatt. Bruce Wardinski, Playa's outgoing Chairman and CEO, expressed confidence that the resorts will continue to flourish under Hyatt's ownership after nearly two decades of building Playa's reputation in all-inclusive hospitality.
