Groupo Lomas, an outstanding family-owned Mexican company based
in Cancun, was founded in 1981 by Mrs. Dolores López Lira and her husband, Mr.
José Luis Martínez Alday.
Groupo Lomas has always enjoyed an excellent reputation
with travel agents in the US, Canada and Latin America. Their 40 years
of exceptional personalized attention to detail have earned many happy clients
and the trust and loyalty of thousands of travel advisors worldwide.
The family also earned the admiration of locals and nearly 5,000
employees through their actions during COVID-19. At the start of the pandemic,
the family decided to divert construction funds intended for their newest hotel
opening to pay their employees while out of work.
With over a million transfers a year, most agents are very
familiar with Lomas as one of the biggest suppliers of transportation for Cancun
excursions and travel needs, but many do not know the company owns ten
beautiful hotels with over 2,000 rooms in the Cancun area.
The Lomas properties include one of my favorites, Palafitos, their
gorgeous overwater bungalows at El Dorado Maroma, Generations Riviera Maya and all
the kids’ favorite hotel and waterpark and their newest property, Nickelodeon
Hotels & Resorts located in Riviera Maya.
Groupo Lomas has always been focused on travel agents, offering a
highly-rated sales reservation center solely for travel agents and generous
commission packages and incentives.
I
recently had the opportunity to witness how this legendary forty-year-old
company is on the move to achieve even more while attending their yearly travel
event called LAW, Lomas Appreciation Week.
At
the event, the esteemed family and top management honored over 300 of their
best travel agents with an awards gala and a lavish 17-course welcome dinner to
thank them for their outstanding sales. During the event, the agents and media
were introduced to the powerhouse of impressive, experienced talent Lomas has
recently hired.
The
new CEO and General Director, Francisco Gutiérrez,
spoke to the group about the company’s vision and future plans of taking Lomas
to an even higher level, sharing their dream of "making a better
Mexico."
And
