Etihad Airways is expanding its North American flight service with new routes coming for Boston and Toronto this fall.

The national airline of the UAE will increase its non-stop service between Boston and Abu Dhabi as of October 27. The carrier intends to step-up its routes from four times per week to once daily. The decision comes in response to an especially strong performance for the Boston route since initially being introduced three months ago by Etihad.

“Our Boston service continues to perform strongly, with our flights near capacity since our inaugural flight in Boston this March,” Arik De, chief revenue and commercial officer for Etihad, said in a statement.

“Having already experienced record passenger demand, we’re excited to invest further in the North American market by expanding our flight frequency out of Boston ahead of the peak winter travel season," De added.

The city of Boston marked the fourth destination in the United States for Etihad Airways, following behind Chicago, New York, and Washington D.C.

Etihad’s daily flights from Boston Logan International Airport to Abu Dhabi operate with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which features Etihad’s Business Studios and Economy Smart seats. The planes have 28 seats in Business and 262 seats in Economy. The aircraft is also equipped with entertainment systems, in-seat power, and in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity.

The airline said its new Boston service is timed to offer “links to Etihad’s growing network for corporate business travelers and leisure guests connecting to destinations across the UAE, the Gulf region and the airline’s 11 nonstop routes into India.”

Toronto route addition

In addition to increasing flight frequencies out of Boston this fall, Etihad said it also plans to begin flying once daily to Toronto Pearson Airport in Canada. This route will also start on October 27 and it will be served by an Airbus 350.

The Airbus A350 is known for burning 25 per cent less fuel and CO2 emissions than previous models of aircraft, Etihad said in a statment. The planes also include Etihad’s newest cabin interiors.

Business class on the Airbus A350 includes 44 Business Studios. Each Business class seat converts into a fully flat bed of 79-inches in length. The seats also come with noise-cancelling headphones and an 18.5-inch TV screen.
