Brazil hosted 7,099,237 international visitors between
January and September of 2025, an all-time record for the country. The total
reflects a 45 percent year-over-year increase.
The 2025 figures not only exceeded the total number of
international arrivals recorded in 2024 (6.77 million) but also surpassed the
official annual goal established in the National Tourism Plan of 2024–2027 — reaching 102.9 percent of the target by the ninth month of the year.
In September alone, Brazil welcomed 570,934 visitors, the
highest number ever recorded for that month and 28.2 percent more than in
September 2024, according ro Embratur, Brazil’s tourism promotion agency.
September’s result also broke the previous record, set in
September 2024, when the country received approximately 445,000 tourists.
The surging visitor numbers reflects the Federal
Government’s ongoing efforts to “rebuild Brazil’s global image as a destination
of diversity and sustainability.” According to Embratur officials.
“Small business owners are expanding, artisans are selling
more, and guides are finding more work — showing how tourism is boosting the
economy and transforming lives,” said Marcelo Freixo, Embratur’s president.
Among the top source markets, the United States ranks third,
with 564,160 visitors between January and September 2025, following Argentina
(over 2.7 million) and Chile (604,786).
“We are living a
historic moment for Brazilian tourism” said Celso Sabino, minister of tourism.
“We have already exceeded our annual goal three months ahead of schedule,
demonstrating the strength of our sector and the world’s confidence in Brazil.”
