Travelers passing through one of the busiest airports on the East Coast will have a new upscale space to relax before their flights.

American Airlines has unveiled its brand new Flagship and Admirals Club lounges at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Together, the lounges offer 25,000 square feet of space with amenities such as spa-style shower suites and cozy fireplaces where passengers can find a sense of calm inside the bustling terminal.

“With more than 19 million travelers passing through Philadelphia last year, our passionate team worked zealously to create a calm, comfortable sanctuary away from the terminal hustle where customers can relax, recharge and feel taken care of before their journey takes off,” said Heather Garboden, American’s chief customer officer.

The new spaces will open on May 22 in PHL’s Terminal A-West between gate A15 and A16. Travelers enter both spaces through a shared lobby area, where the two lounges then branch off from one another.

Inside the lounges, travelers can expect a modern and sleek design that highlights natural elements such as wood accents and organic textiles. For travelers in search of a cozy environment, both lounges will offer comfy seating in front of their respective fireplaces, where travelers can take a load off before continuing their travels. For those needing to work, both spaces will have private work pods, high-speed Wi-Fi, and ample power outlets.

All customers across the two lounges will also be able to refresh in spa-style shower suites stocked with Klur bath products that come in a signature scent called Balance in Bloom, which American helped develop.

Fliers who can access the nearly 12,500-square-foot Flagship lounge get a few extra perks, including access to a Champagne cart and a dining area featuring dishes from James Beard Award winning Chef Randy Rucker. The Admirals Lounge, which clocks in at nearly 11,000 square feet, offers perks for family travelers, like a kids room.

To access the Flagship lounge, travelers must be flying an international itinerary in first or business class or be an AAdvantage member with Platinum status or higher or a Oneworld Emerald or Sapphire member on a qualifying itinerary. Single-day passes are also available for purchase for $150 or 15,000 AAdvantage miles.

Passengers who are flying on qualifying international, transcontinental, or domestic flights in first or business class have access to the Admirals Club, where day passes can also be purchased for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles. Certain American Airlines credit card holders and Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members can also use the club.

The new lounges are an important addition for American, which considers PHL its transatlantic gateway and one of its most important hubs. This summer, the airline will launch new routes from Philadelphia to European destinations, including Milan and Edinburgh—both flights that debut on May 23, just in time for travelers to utilize the American’s new lounges.
