American Airlines’ flight information computer system experienced an outage today, but the carrier says operations are now slowly returning to normal.

The carrier issued a statement to CNN explaining that it had been impacted by a “technology issue” that affected the connectivity for some of its systems.

“We are working with our partners to fully resolve the issue,” the airline said, as reported by CNN. “Though we are experiencing delays as a result, we have not canceled any flights at this time.”

The outage impacted an American Airlines system used to deal with flight bookings, check-in, ticketing and baggage tagging, according to CNN.

At about 2:45 p.m. ET, American Airlines sent messages to airports explaining that it was having problems with the system, an airport source told CNN. Airports were told at that time that there would be “slight delays” as the carrier worked to restore normal operations.

In Miami, airport officials said they were informed of the problem by the carrier at about 2 p.m., CNN reported.

“We have been just notified about that. We’re waiting to hear if any sites have been impacted yet,” Greg Chin, communications director at Miami International Airport, told CNN.

It’s not yet clear what the full fallout will be as a result of the technology issues experienced by American Airlines.

As of 2:30 p.m. ET, about 21 percent of the carrier’s flights were delayed and 2 percent were cancelled, according to the flight data tracker FlightAware.
